New JMAP Graduates Strengthen Michigan's Electric Cooperatives

Linework is a career built on skill, discipline and trust. From blue-sky system improvements to major storm restoration, electric lineworkers play a critical role in keeping power flowing safely to Michigan homes, farms and businesses.

This year, a new group of lineworkers reached an important milestone, earning Journeyman status through the Joint Michigan Apprentice Program.

Hosted at Wolverine Power Cooperative's Training Center in Lake City, JMAP prepares apprentices through years of classroom instruction, field experience and hands-on training. The program emphasizes the technical skills required for linework, while keeping safety at the center of every lesson.

"Watching apprentices grow into confident, skilled journeymen is the true heart of this program," said Matt Monroe, Wolverine Director of Safety & Training. "It's a moment of pride, not only for the graduates, but for their families and everyone who supported and mentored them along the way."

This year's graduates now join a growing network of JMAP alumni serving electric cooperatives across Michigan. Their achievement reflects years of hard work, commitment and preparation for one of the most demanding and important jobs in the electric utility industry.
