At the Michigan Electric Cooperative Association’s annual meeting, March 31, in Grand Rapids, member co-ops approved revisions to the organization’s bylaws, including a change that reduces the number of people on the board’s executive committee from five to three.

The bylaws were changed to modernize and simplify MECA’s corporate structure, provide flexibility in managing its affairs, and better reflect how the Association functions today. Visit https://www.meca.coop/about-meca/bylaws/ to read the full set.

After the meeting, MECA directors elected Robert Schallip (Cloverland Electric Cooperative) as the new board chairman. Other officers elected are Mark Kappler (HomeWorks Tri-County), vice chairman; and Eric Baker (Wolverine Power Cooperative), secretary-treasurer.

Other MECA board members include Louis Wenzlaff and Dallas Braun (Thumb Electric Cooperative); Ken Swope and Bob Hance (Midwest Energy); Brian Burns and Raymond Wozniak (Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op); Calvin Koski and Debbie Miles (Ontonagon County REA); Dan Dasho (Cloverland); Kimber Hansen (HomeWorks); Richard Walsworth (Wolverine); Jerry Akers and Kim Molitor (Wolverine Power Marketing); John Zickert and Tony Anderson (Cherryland); Nancy Gardner-Platt and Tom Harrell (Alger Delta); and Robert Kran and Steve Boeckman (Great Lakes).
