As part of their new Safety Awareness Program, Great Lakes Energy (GLE) employees are encouraged to submit safety suggestions to their loss control department.

Anything determined to require immediate action is addressed appropriately, while items of less urgency are reviewed by the co-op’s safety committee each quarter, with recommendations following.

Valid safety tips can earn employees 20 bonus points toward their safety point totals, and 5 bonus points with an approved safety tip. The tip must be appropriate, practical, constructive and beneficial at both work and home, although not necessarily something that is implemented at GLE.

Enough employees participated in the program during the first half of 2014 to earn chances in a drawing for ”big ticket” items, such as gift cards, and the co-op is looking at new ways for them to earn points.
