The 6th Annual Curt Knierim Memorial Run will be June 28 (8 a.m., EDT) in Newberry, Mi.

The Cloverland Electric Co-op lineman/supervisor lost his life in an electricity-related accident in 2008, but he left a legacy of keeping kids active and out of trouble by being an avid fan, coach and organizer of local youth athletics for over 20 years. Even after his kids went away to college, he supported and coached youth athletics. If you’d like to help keep this tradition alive and enjoy doing fundraisers or running or walking, you can register at http://www.curtknierimmemorial.com

The event has raised over $25,000 in the last five years to help Newberry youth athletic programs. Online donations are also welcome and can be made at the website.

Knierim also served on the Newberry Water and Light Board, Village Council, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
